PERSONAL HOLIDAY
Each employee receives one Personal Holiday each calendar year.

VACATION
Full-time employees accrue from 10 days per year to 24 days per year based on hours worked and years of service. Accrued vacation leave is limited to 55 working days (440 hours). Vacation accruals are pro-rated for part-time employees.

JURY DUTY PAY
Full-time employees called to serve on Jury Duty will receive their regular salary for service on Jury Duty up to 15 working days, or 120 hours each calendar year. Jury Duty pay is pro-rated for part-time employees.

SICK LEAVE
Full-time employees accrue sick leave based on regular hours worked equivalent to 12 days per year. There is no maximum to the number of sick leave hours that may be accumulated. Employees who retire from Cal Poly Corporation will have their sick leave converted to service credit for purposes of retirement. Sick leave of 250 days equals one year of service credit. Part-time employees accrue sick leave on a pro-rated basis.

FAMILY CARE LEAVE
Employees may use up to 48 hours of sick leave to care for a member of their immediate family. Immediate family members for family care and bereavement include: parents, step-parents, spouse, children, step-children, siblings, parent-in-laws, registered domestic partners and their children, grandparents, and grandchildren.

BEREAVEMENT
Employees may use up to 40 hours of their sick leave for a death in the immediate family.

FAMILY & MEDICAL LEAVE ACTS
Employees who have worked more than 1250 hours in the prior 12 months are eligible to take up to 12 weeks leave (paid or unpaid, depending on leave balance status) in a 12 month period for their own serious illness, birth or adoption of a child, or to care for a family member (child, parent, or spouse). Insurance benefits will continue during this time period.

SHORT TERM DISABILITY
Cal Poly Corporation offers a short-term disability program for full-time employees out on a Medical Leave of Absence who have exhausted all of their leave balances. Short-term disability will pay up to $231 per pay period while the employee is disabled for up to six months, in addition to State Disability and/or Workers' Compensation benefits.

CATASTROPHIC LEAVE PROGRAM
This program allows employees to donate or receive vacation hour donations in the case of a serious illness or injury when an individual has exhausted all leave accruals and short-term disability benefits.

Health & Related Benefits

MEDICAL
Cal Poly Corporation offers HMO and PPO medical coverage for employees and their eligible dependents. The medical plans are offered through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The coverage includes the employee, his/her eligible dependents, or eligible domestic partner. Children are covered up to age 23. Cal Poly Corporation contributes between 85% and 90% of the premiums for the most popular plans. The employee is responsible for any premium payment in excess of this amount. Employee contributions can be taken on a pre-tax basis. Employees who have duplicate coverage may choose cash-in-lieu of insurance.

DENTAL
Cal Poly Corporation provides dental insurance to all its employees and their eligible dependents at no cost to the employee. Children are covered up to age 19, or 25 if they are full-time students. The plan allows an employee to go to the dentist of his/her choice and will pay 50%, 80%, or 100% of expenses dependent upon the type of service. There is a $50 per person calendar year deductible that is waived for semi-annual checkups and cleanings. Coverage of up to $1,250 for child orthodontics is also included. Employees who have duplicate coverage may choose cash-in-lieu of insurance.

VISION INSURANCE
Cal Poly Corporation provides vision insurance to all its employees and their eligible dependents at no cost to the employee. Children are covered up to age 25. This plan has a $20 per person calendar year deductible and allows for an exam and lenses every calendar year, and new frames every other calendar year. Employees may use preferred providers and have benefits paid at a higher rate or use an outside provider and pay the additional costs. Employees who have duplicate coverage may choose cash-in-lieu of insurance.

LIFE INSURANCE
Employees are protected at no cost by a life insurance policy equivalent to a base of $10,000, $40,000, or $70,000 (dependent upon classification) and coverage equivalent to one month of salary for each year of service up to six months. There is also an equal base amount of Accidental Death & Dismemberment Coverage if an employee is injured or killed in the case of an accident. Employees are eligible to purchase additional life insurance for themselves and their dependents.

LONG-TERM CARE
A long-term care program is available, at an additional cost, to all CalPERS employees and their families, including parents, in-laws and siblings. This insurance provides coverage not normally covered by health insurance, such as nursing home care.

ASI RECREATIONAL SPORTS CENTER
Employees also have access to the ASI Recreational Sports Center for a nominal monthly fee.

RETIREMENT
Cal Poly Corporation contracts with the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) for its retirement program. Employees are required to contribute approximately 5% of their gross salary on a pre-tax basis. New employees are covered under the 2% at 60 formula. For more information, click here.

TAX SHELTERED ANNUITIES & CalPERS 457 PLAN
Employees have the option of saving for retirement by using tax-sheltered annuities, TSA (403b plans) and/or 457 plan. The deductions are taken pre-tax, therefore directly reducing the amount of taxable income Cal Poly Corporation reports at the end of the calendar year. The interest earned on this retirement savings is also tax deferred.
